Irish fans would have expected another 3 points on the board to boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup in Russia next summer but even though they took the lad within 4 minutes, Irish hearts were broken at the full time whistle.

Georgia after the goal were the much better team, they were constantly causing Ireland problems and they didn’t know how to deal with the pressure they were receiving. The equaliser came in the 34th minute from Qazaishvili and even after that they pushed and pushed for a winner and probably deserved all 3 points in the end.

The draw wasn’t what Ireland where looking for especially when Ben Woodburns screamer earn Wales all 3 points at home to Austria to tighten the gap to Ireland to just 2 points.

It’s still in Irelands hand to at least make the playoffs but have a much tougher run in with games with Serbia and Wales which could be the decisive game in the group.

The pressure is all on Ireland now and with this latest setback it will be interesting to see how they react on Tuesday in what is a must win against Serbia.
